Lil Picspam/Gifspam for lil-lost-kitten

Yes, I'm very aware I should be doing work right now, but Genz has had a pretty effin crap week, so am attempting to make her smile through the wonder of picspam! This is SFW, but image heavy.

Click for AWESOME PICTURES WITH MAGICAL POWERS! Ok, fine. They're not magical per se in the whole wand waving *snort* sense, but ...some of them are so awesome they have become magical...? )

Ok, so this turned into mostly Gen Kill love, but it's totally not my fault I'm obsessed! *nods* I blame YOU, bunny.

It's gonna be one of those days

I'm currently in Uni- a place I hate. The computer just froze THREE times and I had to restart it each time *unhappy face*, I'm about to meet with my dyslexia tutor and have to show her how much work I've not done as I've been in Lancaster helping out my grandparents as their radiator shwacked their front room. Fun.

And as I sat down at my computer I noticed that my necklace which I love, the one I don't wear very often and only when I need a boost to make me feel smiley, has broken. My brother and his girlfriend brought it back from Africa for me and I love it so much. Thank god for layers though as some of the beads slipped down into my bra and tshirt- I may have attracted some attention fishing them out just now in the LRC. *blush* but maybe I can string the bits I have left to make a bracelet/s or a collar necklace. :(

Also, the kettle died last night, so I had to boil water on the stove- not too bad when making tea, but SUCh a pain when making a hot water bottle- I had to use a soup ladle to pour it!

I'm an unhappy bunny, and about to be late!

xZxxxxxx

Edit: Ok, so I just found another couple of beads in my bra. This is getting silly now! Also, new kettle FTW! It's so SHINEY!!

The paranoia of 3am

So last night I was in bed, sleeping, like a normal person Under a cut as its a longish post, and don't want to overload your flists! )

Crap, now I'm freaked out again.

xZx

EDIT: Genz says she woke up, thought it was the end of the world, and thought to herself "I don't want to die without asking Zoe what that was." and "I need to have a philosophical conversation with Zoe."

Ahh Genz, much lolz! *snuggles*

The Trouble with Tribbles

EEE! I am SO HAPPY!

I've just had my first day of my four weeks placement and it went SO.VERY.WELL! :D

Wanna know why? I was making these...ice cream scoop things by gathering a circle of fabric and stuffing it with wadding, and I said :"How cool is this, I get to make multi coloured velvet tribbles of varying sizes on my FIRST DAY" and one of the women was like "... Heeee! We have a trekkie!" And I was all "I'm such a geek! *Vulcan Salute* " BUT SHE WAS TOO!! So we started explaining to the other two what Tribbles are and why it's so apt, and I referenced the episode and then we started talking about the new movie, and about HOW AWESOME IT IS/THE COOLNESS OF THE COSTUMES! *implodes*

There were other awesome things, but  WHO CARES ABOUT THEM!?

This placement is going to be GOOD.

Random post is random

The problem with LJ: We all think we are so close, but really we know nothing about one another. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Then post this in your LJ and find out what people don't know about you.

Today's post will be illustrated with some userpics that I never use... (but collect like a ho!)

*sigh* I'm trying to come up with a topic for my Honours project and am failing miserably! I have a week and a half ish to have my topic sorted and I keep crashing in to bloody tritanium walls! I thought of exploring the Harajuku fashions and culture, like the reason they dress like that and really get into the social and grouping issues. Then my product could be a mashup of a harajuku and a western style, like lolita-steampunk.

Well, that plan is scuppered, as I've found this AMAZING paper by a sociologist called Chris Perry, who did HIS dissertation on the subversion, subculture, and style of Harajuku. And it was brilliant, totally amazing! His research is amazing and his conclusions are great. It's totally comprehensive...which leaves me out in the cold, as I can't think of a new way to look at it!

I still want to do lolita-steampunk, but now I have to think up a new idea for my question! ARRRRRGHHHHHH! *tears hair out*

Oh god, this year is going to be hard! Why, oh why didn't I choose something easier, or graduate with my degree in the summer?

Unless......

Ooooh! I have just this min thought of another idea! How about a look into "futuristic costumes" and how they were portrayed in films, say, from the 60s to the present day, coming up with my own version at the end! I COULD RESEARCH STAR TREK! (also others, but I am too excited about star trek!) Hmm, does that sound good, or is this icon appropriate:

????

If anyone has any ideas on any of this, feel free to chip in at any time!

...Scary...

A friend emailed me with this link . And it scares me.

At first, I thought it was just drawn on, (And let's just take a few moments to admire the deatil! It's more than amazing) some arty thing in charcoal, on the human body, but turns out it is a tattoo! Now, I love Bones, but I think that MAY be taking it a LITTLE far!

Oh GOD. I never thought it would come to this.

I never thought this would happen to me. Ever.

I thought I was faking, and that I was faking well.

I was happy denying my denial.

But then it happened.

And I couldn't stop it.

I went on amazon and bought THIS

Oh god! I'm on my way to being (if not already) a TREKKIE! I've been avoiding admiting it for so long, but its true! Earlier I was going to go out to get some ST:TOS books from the library, but managed to stop myself. and I still maintain that the few I read when I was younger was due to Darren borrowing them and that I was bored.*cough*. Any more Trek, and I'll be tempted to base my Honors on ST:Reboot. *thoughtful* Damn it. Must. Resist.

Darn! *headdesk*

My angst at the moment *cue violin music*

Ok, so I haven't posted in a while. Too busy with the pain that is RL: doing coursework, stressing out about coursework, trying to get enough work done before mid-semester tutorials, being sick, etc.

lj cut, to spare you the angst )

Thanks to everyone who wished me happy birthday! Y'all made me smile! *huge snugglehuggles*

But, What WOULD Arbie Do? Well, I mean APART from the *"shvvving"* and *stab*

I am completely calm. I am calmer than a calm thing, such as a snail, that has a degree in Calm from the University of Calm.

*Cough*Totally *Cough*

Its such a tiny thing, but 21 is looming, and on Monday, I'll officially be an adult proper! It just feels like I'm not really doing anything new, y'know? At 16 I went to 6th form College, at 18 it was Uni, and 21...? At 21 I'm ...going to continue Uni. *sigh*

I'm just feeling all mopey cuz its that time again and I'm all drugged up on painkillers, and trying to make my brain work when all it says is:  "Ok, next word is either 'Tree', or more likely, 'Bananas'. That's all I can give you" *headdesk*

but to cheer myself up:

Hehehe! Look once for the pretty, and then just close your eyes, and listen to it again! *fangirl squeeeeee*

Money is the root of all evil. 'Specially if you're broke

My god. Day from Hell yesterday! Well, not hell really, just really trying from beginning to end. Well, ACTUALLY the day started ok, and ended with playing Halo with Genz, so that’s not true either. The part of the day between these two points, however, was not so shiney.

I needed a specific book from the library. The library was the one in Piershill, I double checked that the book was there and available, so I trecked all the way out there, 45mins ish, and started hunting for the book. It was in a stupid section, I mean, who would put a book on American military uniforms 1755 to the present in the section marked pastimes and leisure…? Anyway, I couldn’t find the book, nor could the Librarian, so she went to her computer, and found out that it hadn't been loaned out since 2002. She said that it must be stolen. I personally think it may NOT be stolen, just lost- perhaps there is just not a HUGE call for American military uniform history, seeing as all the main war uniforms are covered in other, better books.

*rolls eyes*

I got back on the bus, and went back into town to go to the Central Library. I looked for AGES for the books I wanted- (by the way, did you know that Blackwork Embroidery is classed as Leisure: Sports...?) So, found my book, and went to check it out. A nasty male librarian then informed me my library card had expired. Now, I didn't even KNOW they expired!! Where I'm from, I've been registered for 14 years, and that has NEVER expired! So I was very confused- they hadn't even sent a letter saying it had expired! I asked to put the book away until the next day, when I could bring proof of address. He said that he couldn't and was rather rude! I asked another librarian when rude-man left, and she said that they could keep it on hold for me for a week! *sigh*

Then comes the depressing bit. I went into my bank to pay my Credit Card bill, and was told I had £6 credit left in my overdraft. *screams* My money from my loan company hasn't come in. It was supposed to be in on Janurary 5th, but the payment was blocked for an unknown reason. They said it would be sorted, and that it would be in the first week of Feb. It didn't. After MANY calls to the company, I was told to call back today, which I've just done. Still isn't sorted! They're very confused, I'm very confused! And I'm angry! And I WANT COMPENSATION!!!! ALSO MY MONEYYYYY!!!!

...And when I got in bed last night, by hot water exploaded and soaked my bed.

Just my EFFIN luck.

All the memes around have that pesky ''post to your journal'' requirement!

* Describe me in one word, just one single word. Positive or negative.

* Leave your word in a comment, before looking at what words others have used.

* Copy and paste the meme to your journal to find out how people describe you when limited to one word.

Of course I was up all night! Not because I have insomnia,I just couldn't stop thinking about coffee!

I survive life through the miracle that is coffee. I drink gallons of the darn stuff- it's how I can get out of bed and be awake! So my morning routine is usually quite simple. I wake up, hit the snooze button on my alarm, doze, and repeat for as long as possible. Then I stumble into the kitchen, turn on the kettle, then the wireless internet. I make my coffee, and then go check my email.

Today, I did the same. Except my hands weren't functioning, and I poured burning coffee all over my hand. Before the pain registered, I got really angry, cuz I just wasted that precious nectar of the gods. Then the pain set in, and I became less "I'll have to make some more," and more "FU(K!NG H£LL! OUCHIES!!!!" Not my idea of a great morning.

And I just took a sip of my coffee, and its cold. *sigh* Is it bad that I don't care?

Now, some people have tried to tell me that caffeine is a drug. Which is silly, because it is a vitamin, just like chocolate. *ignores people who try to ruin my delusions* And so coffee is good and amazing and nothing is bad about it.

I love what Dave Barry said about coffee-

"It is inhumane, in my opinion, to force people who have a genuine medical need for coffee to wait in line behind people who apparently view it as some kind of recreational activity. I bet this kind of thing does not happen to heroin addicts. I bet that when serious heroin addicts go to purchase their heroin, they do not tolerate waiting in line while some dilettante in front of them orders a hazelnut smack-a-cino with cinnamon sprinkles."

More Coffee-related quotables )
